This book is based on the play, WINDRUSH TIME CAPSULE written and directed by Connie Bell. The play was inspired by the ‘Windrush Scandal’ in 2018 - the year that the British Government decided to prove that despite their contributions during enslavement, colonialism and beyond, Africans from the Caribbean were not welcome in the UK. They did this by destroying a series of landing cards regularly used to evidence Caribbean migrants entry into the UK and therefore their right to remain in the country. By working with this theme, but placing it in our distant future, Bell’s play, and this Colouring Book caution migrants to the UK against ever forgetting the ‘hostile environment’ and how quickly the destruction of historical records can place them in precarious positions.
