A PAN-AFRICAN ARCHIVE
What does the Pan-African archive look like? Sound Like? Feel like? Where does it begin and what are its limits? How is the archive expressed within our own cultural frameworks? Our work explores these questions. Our exploration is creating something beautiful. We are changing our narrative. History is healing. We cannot decolonise what was never ours to begin with - but we can always create. When we face the past, we understand the present. In understanding the present, we shape our future.
OUR MISSION
We facilitate heritage-based therapeutic interventions for people of African heritage rooted in our archives, cultural principles and technologies. Our work aims at creating critical learning spaces that support our collective repair.
OUR VALUES
Peace, oneness, interdependence, integrity, participation, collaboration, creativity, community, wellbeing, tradition, resilience, self-determination.
OUR VISION
African people who understand our pasts and are physically, mentally and spiritually equipped to build successful, peaceful and joyful futures.
METHODOLOGY
We sample the archive. We co-create spaces that shape our collective futures.
We consider: What is the meaning of the memory? What is its context? What possibilities does it offer us in the present? How can it be activated in service of healing and repair?
